Constantly shopping

This weekend we went to Target to try to find a birthday present for one Michelle's best friends. Mission was accomplished in pretty short order, but once in the toy section we of course couldn't just leave. Michelle insisted on exploring the "pink aisle" several times. She also liked the baby toys, mostly, I suspect, because they all made lots of noise. But then I discovered some toys I'd never seen at Target before - European imports! I got sucked in right away. This guy simply had to come home with me.

He is from a French company, and is knit, and oh so very soft. I mean, he even has a sweater! Theoretically, I have put him aside to be a birthday present for Michelle. In truth, at the slightest provocation, he is coming out of his box and going onto my bedside. Why can't I get a new stuffed animal, right?

Poor Olive

I made Olive here from Hillary's make-a-long patterns here for a Chanukkah present for Michelle. I have to say that I was so pleased with how she came out, pretty and cuddly and so cute. I almost considered keeping her myself.

I gave her to Michelle at the same time that she got many present from my family. Poor Olive suffered in comparison, as she was not one of a series. Michelle's favorite activities involve lines or piles of toys at this point. After getting tossed aside, I asked Michelle if I could keep here. She readily agreed. I was disappointed, but not too much.

A week later, Michelle found other cloth dolls in her room, and announced that she didn't like them either, and I could have those too. I asked if this was an overall trend, that she didn't like dolls only stuffed animals. She answered "Yes. No. Yes." Shortly thereafter, she announced she did like them, and wanted her doll back (meaning Olive). I of course returned her, but she is now sitting on a top shelf with other banished dolls.

I don't think I'll be making any more dolls for Michelle soon. But I admit that I am thinking about how to recover Olive (renamed Lola, Linda and Blackie in the interim) to my collection.
